I see a red truck and I want to paint it black ....

the dent beside the third bake light was my other major dent, that one cooperated a little more. After the hammer, only need some bondo. Apparently, we are only priming the majorly visible areas on the cab this round.

Alright, let's play with the cab for a while. Major dent under center of driver's door. Couldn't pull it out enough. Welded and shaped another piece of metal over the top of it. Of course, this means more grinding, fiberglass, and sanding... A couple days later, got it in the booth, ready...

Later on, same method, tack tack tack weld, grind it down, tack it some more, grind it some more, then added fiberglass Sand it out, then the bondo. A lot more sanding. A lot of wiping and cleaning. Then got the first coat of primer on it. That seam where the roll pan meets the bed...

I see a red truck and I want to paint it black ....

Been working on this bed lately, I only plan on sanding the inside with 80 grit, to prep for the liner. The bed rails are pretty rough, and I want to keep my stake pockets. I'm going to clean up the bed rails some, then let the liner come up over the rails. I'm not too worried about the dents...

Then we added some short strand fiberglass. He always uses fiberglass over any welds. Then a little more of this stuff, after sanding the fiberglass. Then watch your buddy smooth it out.... Hell, I came this far, might as well throw a coat of primer on it. Yea, I'm keeping my marker...

Hi Frank, The running boards are definitely unique. Some company named Monroe modified the truck. I’m guessing they custom made the fiberglass boards. They need some work, and I’m still undecided about putting them back on. Sooo, if I don’t reuse them, you got first dibs!

Yea, live in Nashville , got truck from northern Georgia. I’ve owned red , white, and blue bowties my whole life. Some trucks were all 3 colors at once! Never owned a black one. I bought this truck as a project because it was surprisingly solid. The paint job is only the tip of the iceberg...

Made myself go to the shop every day after work this week, got some more disassembly done. PO cut out the y-pipe and cat, ran duals to single muffler, and it drones big time. Driver's side floor pan needs attention. Luckily it hasn't got into the cab mount yet.
