While replacing the stereo, I noticed this plug is pretty melted. Anyone have an idea what this might go to and what would cause it?

Forgot to mention that this is a 1989 c1500 single cab with lm7/4l60e swap if that helps.
Im coming from a wheezy 330k mile 5.0 tbi with tons of blow by so this build will definitely be an improvement.

Around October of 2019, I took inventory of my donor vehicle (drove it from Daytona beach to the other coast) and as soon as I got it home, I started tearing into it.

I honestly don't know how people let the rust get this bad on vehicles. Most of the frame on the drivers side looks like this and its like they didn't even care lol.
So my rear axle tubes are pretty rusty, the only place it leaks is the cover which I'm sure it's time to change the fluid (if there is any). Would it even be worth it to mess with it? I have a welder and I'm not afraid to put another rear end in. It's mostly on the ends where the backing plates...
