    The Stupid Electronics Questions Thread

While replacing the stereo, I noticed this plug is pretty melted. Anyone have an idea what this might go to and what would cause it? Edit. Forgot to mention that this is a 1989 c1500 single cab with lm7/4l60e swap if that helps.

A little late into my swap

Im coming from a wheezy 330k mile 5.0 tbi with tons of blow by so this build will definitely be an improvement. I'll post up an idle video tomorrow, I wrapped up a few more things, almost ready to go for a spin!

A little late into my swap

I fabricated my own 3 inch exhaust into a high flow cat and a magnaflow muffler. I started with: Half way there: All sealed up and ready for paint. Painted:

A little late into my swap

Part number for the headers is 1302ls1 and they do work with the Dirty Dingo swap mounts (DD-2550C).

A little late into my swap

Around October of 2019, I took inventory of my donor vehicle (drove it from Daytona beach to the other coast) and as soon as I got it home, I started tearing into it. Donor: 2002 1500 z71 5.3/4l60e Going into: 1989 c1500 5.0/5lm60 Im keeping the standard trans and engine parts incase I come...

    Worth Rebuilding Rearend?

I honestly don't know how people let the rust get this bad on vehicles. Most of the frame on the drivers side looks like this and its like they didn't even care lol.

So, you both are telling me to ignore this?

    Worth Rebuilding Rearend?

So my rear axle tubes are pretty rusty, the only place it leaks is the cover which I'm sure it's time to change the fluid (if there is any). Would it even be worth it to mess with it? I have a welder and I'm not afraid to put another rear end in. It's mostly on the ends where the backing plates...

    P0106 after engine install

I think he got that part, definitely look for vacuum leaks and you can use carb cleaner around the top end to see if idles changes or it dies.

    Heavier oil

I run a tad thicker oil (10w-40) in my L67 in my Regal only because it's getting up there in miles and the oil pump is getting tired, and lots of city driving I do notice about a 8-10 psi of oil pressure increase once it's hot. Though with leaking valve stem seals like you have, it isn't going...

1989 Standard cab step side build

Started removing things in the engine bay so it can be painted, decided to ditch the smog pump and lines since the line in the back looks like the brazed joint came apart and it was just open. Probably another reason it runs like trash. Painted the engine bay in gloss black. The front portion...

1989 Standard cab step side build

Figured I would use this since I can document how this ugly thing is coming along. I'll make it a short beginning: Bought the truck for $1100 Clutch didn't work, drove it home 25 miles with no clutch and killing my hand in the process. The truck runs like trash on the way home. I get it home...

    88 4.3 egr problem

Yes vacuum but the vacuum is controlled by a solenoid, if it were just a straight vacuum then the egr would always be opened which would cause it to run like garbage.

    88 4.3 egr problem

Isn't the EGR on these controlled by a solenoid? Have you checked that?

    Interesting findings in my purchase.

It surely wants to go but I'm assuming is retarding the timing when I attempt to smash the throttle even half way. So haven't gotten a chance to look on the deck of theon the block to see what the number is. Here's hoping it's actually a 5.7.

    Interesting findings in my purchase.

Yeah, the vin is a K which normally would be a 350 but the twit i bought it from said it has been "bored out" which for 306k miles on it, it doesn't leak a damn thing and it run decent except for the code 43 issue. When I brought the truck home for the first time, the clutch wouldn't work and...

    So......is this bad?

I'll leave it alone for now since it still charges, I have to hunt down this wretched ghost code 43 issue and whether or not i have a 305 or a 350.
