Have to crack throttle to start when cold

No fuel leaks, I just turn the key and go, I don't "prime" the engine. Never came across anything that would be evidence of this. I get good discounts on OEM parts at work, and I may just replace the IAC. Is there a relearn procedure for trucks this old, or is it simply a R&R and go deal? The...

Have to crack throttle to start when cold

Hi all, 1993 Sierra, 305 TBI, 135K. Truck runs well, but when it's "cold", aka sitting for hours/overnight, if I turn the key, it will start and die. In order for it to actually start and run, I have to crack the throttle just a tad with my foot. Then it starts, and "catches" and runs fine...

    (2) 88-94 Garnet Red Cassetrte Bezels

Hi all, Cleaning out some old parts I'm not sure why I ever really kept. Two cassette bezels in Garnet Red. Both in good condition, one will require you to pull the little vent springs out of yours and swap. $20 for the good one, $15 for the one needing springs, shipping included.

    Intermittent No Start...Starter?

Hi all, Every now and then (although it's getting a bit more frequent) when I go to start the truck, I'll turn the key to "Start" and all I get is a metallic click/clunk. It sounds like the starter solenoid, perhaps. It doesn't sound like a relay. Of course, the starter does nothing. I'll...

88-94 aux input for stock radio

Man, the only reason I'm not jumping on this is because since I have the radio with the Digital EQ, the EQ would no longer work, and all the music would be very flat and lifeless.

    Waxing after fresh clear coat

At least two months. The paint/clear will still be "outgassing" for quite awhile after the "paint" smell is gone. Applying a wax over this tends to trap this, and will cause premature paint/clear failure.

Engine Surges or "Pulses" with A/C AC on- another AC question

Also, unless it's been converted (it will have a sticker either on the silver canister by the firewall, or on the compressor or radiator support saying "This vehicle has been converted to R134a" ), you're likely still driving with R-12 in the system. R12 was used up until the 1994 model year...

    88-94 bucket seats

The 88-94 buckets are quite comfy, surprisingly. They will fit, but you will have to drill four additional holes in your floor pan to secure the inner rails, as they are not pre-drilled from the factory. I'm not sure how the center console is installed, it's likely just bolted/screwed to the...

What's your AC temp at? Mine is a little hot...

Only 50? Damn, my R-12 drops to the upper 20's-lower 30's while driving. Are you R-12 or R-134a? I'd expect R-134a (and esp. R-12) to do better than that...

How hot does your truck run w/ ac on?

No real change in my '93 with R12. If I let it idle for 45 minutes or so on a real hot (90+*) day, it'll go just a tick past 210, but once I start moving it drops back down to 205.

    need help with my AC

Ok, just to clarify: "All you need to do is suck out the R-12 and oil, replace the oil, and fittings, and add R-134a". NOTHING is further from the truth. These trucks do not convert all that well, from personal experience. To *properly* convert it (for ideal performance), you need to...

    mystery leak

Mine is doing the same, I need to fix it. Went to put some paper on the pass. floor mat and it turned wet instantly. Floor mat/carpet is soaked with water.

    TBI 454, no guts...

Replace your fuel filter then try again. Classic symptoms.

    Bog at WOT

Glad you fixed it. Mine did the same thing, and sure enough, fuel filter was original....20 years, and 130K.
