Just having a little fun here and seeing what you all get for mileage out of these trucks. I know they aren't built for mpg, but some people are blessed enough to get some awesome mileage. For me, I used to get 16 mpg without too much hassle. After the tires I get about 14 mpg. The best I ever saw was 24 - yes you read right - 24 mpg with a 350 vortec on an entire tank of gas while driving through some mountain ranges in Idaho and Utah.

So you can brag or boast about what you get - or don't get, cause gas-guzzlers are cool too!

I got 26Xmi with my 26gal tank back before I fixed the exhaust leak, misfire on the passenger side, and with a clogged cat. That's like 10-11, now I have her running nice and smooth, I'd guess about 14-16mpg, 350tbi, 3.42s on 31"s and still have the clogged up cat. Is there an accurate way to measure?

most accurate i know with out a scanner, fill tank till pump kicks off and reset odo. drive...next fill up, fill till pump kicks off. divide miles on odo by gallons pumped = mpg

No clue what i get...my 16 gallon fuel cell has no baffles so with a hard right turn i lose 1/4 gallon and gain a 1/4 with a hard left lol

I got 14.4 avg on my last tank of gas... this was before the mud tires, so those good times are probably gone. lol

x2 on what Geoff said about how to determine MPG.

Do larger tires throw the speedo, thus the odo off on these trucks? Or is the speedo computer controlled on the vortec engines?

You know, my bigger tires didn't make it read slower. I put my GPS in there for it to read and the speed matches up. Never had it adjusted either.

Anyhow, if I drive 60-65 MPH I'll get around 16MPG.
