I was doing some research and trying to decode my vin. Am I reading this correct and according to this chart, H for engine description in 1989?

I was under the impression I had a 1989 305 v8. Am I reading the chart wrong?

My vin 2GCEC14H8K1187529. Doesn’t show an H under section 6 for a 1989. But section 8 matches correctly with a K. What am I missing?

2GCEC14H8K1187529 shows as

Style / Body: Regular Cab 2DEngine: 5.0L V8 FI Country of Assembly: Canada

81-89 does not make sense, as gmt400 trucks were from 88 with some from 92

Yeah that's a chart likely meant for the R/V series trucks (squarebody)

8th digit H is indeed a 5.0 TBI engine for a GMT400

Shameless link to my own vin decoder card, pretty complete and I believe to be accurate, info culled from many trusted sources and direct experience:

That chart is also missing plant code "E", which googling tells me is the Lindon, NJ plant. My truck's VIN is hard to read, but it's definitely an E in that position.

Also, found this. It's how I know for sure that's an "E". The check digit matches up.
