I'd wait for a cheaper and more abused but well maintained truck. Mileage is just a number. My truck has 255k on it and I've never looked at the odometer and went "Oh boy, getting time to sell this." Doesn't mean that at a given number it's wheels are gonna fall off or anything like that. If it doesn't use oil or make any funny noises, drives straight ect, it's a good vehicle. All you have to do is continue to maintain it so it stays that way.
When I towed that '79 G10 I faced a few hills, kind of rare here in SE Michigan but I94 has 'em and so did the location I bought the van at. Towed it some 80 miles. Sometimes I had to downshift to third, others just 4th. Downshifting is just a natural thing when towing, doesn't indicate you need a bigger engine if the job still gets done. Hell, my fat ass has to downshift my bike when I go up slight grades...
