My first thought on this is that being installed incorrectly, they were twisted the wrong way. I wonder if that can damage them. This is a previous post.

I, too, initially installed mine backwards. I was looking at undercarriage photographs of a pristine, low-mileage 1998 K1500 listed on Bring a Trailer when I noticed the markings on the end of the torsion bar at the passenger side control arm. I was beyond upset at myself.
