I'm about to replace my timing cover with a new one since reusing is a no no. My questions is, do I need to add any rtv or a separate gasket to the one that already comes on it? I've never done it and I just dont want to do it a second time. Thanks.

You should be just fine putting the gasket on dry.

But I'll admit, I sometimes like to smear a thin layer of RTV on fiber gaskets anyway. Part of me just can't help but worry about porosity, I guess.

May I suggest you replacing the front main seal while you have access to it
