Figured I may as well make a thread for the LBZ. Bought it March 25th 2023 with 230k for $9,000. Sold my LB7 dually and was looking for a very specific truck. I wanted a CCSB, leather interior, LLY or LBZ, and as close to stock as possible. Engine was stock as they come, new transmission, just had some cosmetic work and a 6” RC lift. Needed a front end, transmission lines were leaking at the crimps, and the fan clutch was bad. But for 9k I got a steal

Shortly after buying I rebuilt the front end, replaced the transmission lines and fan clutch. Went to leave for work in the morning and it just clicked. Previous owner put two new batteries in right before I bought it but it wasn’t charging properly. I found the alternator stud was loose and would make intermittent contact. Went to tighten it and wouldn’t you know, the stud snapped off the alternator. Another $400 later and we had a new alternator and we’re back on the road

When I bought it I already knew I didn’t like the lift kit on it as it severely killed the fuel mileage. I averaged 10-11mpg with the 33s, so I started gathering parts to bring it down to stock height. FYI, unless you have all the parts it is definitely cheaper to go up than come back down. All my parts together were roughly $1500 and I did the work Father’s Day weekend. You can see my wife enjoying her birthday evening (4th of July) while our little town did their firework show

After that I got real tired of the 33s so I sold the set for $600 and bought a set of 20x12s for $700. Absolutely hated the ride and the fact I couldn’t turn worth a ****. Sold those for $1000 and bought a set of PY0s with almost new ATs

She’s sitting at 292k now and has been hands down one of the best trucks I’ve ever owned. Aside from my OBS CCSB I love this thing. Been to Iowa and back with it and averaged 27mpg for that trip. Future plans are to maybe do some 20x10s with nice tires. Retint the windows and find another B&W gooseneck hitch as the PO removed it before I got it. We got our snow day this week and I had to take advantage to get a nice picture

Here she was when we stayed in Omaha when we visited the wife’s family in council bluffs. I’ve never stayed in a “bigger” city so I found myself waking up at every little noise. Definitely way bigger than our town of maybe 500 people lol. Funny thing about the Airbnb is they never said our neighbor was the county jail

I stayed overnight in a city once, I couldn't believe the noise 24/7, give me a small town any day.

definitely got a good deal a 9k.
i just got an 06 GMC ECSB 4x4 LBZ, been looking for awhile too, wanted a better tow rig than my 95.
it's stock, never been tuned and has 147k on it.
Planning a long road trip with the RV in the spring (hopefully).
going thru it slowly to make sure its ready.

i hope i like it as much as you do. Can't beat that mpg.
Planning on leaving mine stock.

any plans to "tune" it? EFI live?

Y'all would absolutely hate where we live then. Next to one major highway and 3 blocks from the very busy Loop 610. Noisy all the time.....
Where we originally were at, was four blocks away from the road. Last fall we were moved to the front row, and it's pretty consistently moving traffic.
