i Have a 95 z71 ext lifted 6 inches suspension 3 inch body. It has a carbed 355 and th400 with the stock 241 transfer case and 14 bolt rear. Currently my front drive shaft is turning when locked in 4x4 but the hubs are not turning. Would the transmission swap to a th400 be affecting that at all? thanks for the info just bought the truck 2 weeks ago glad to be back in a chevy 4x4.

Check fuses, check for power at front diff actuator when in 4x4. Also you may want to make sure the PO did not disable the 4x4 because of the 14b rear having different gear ratio than the front.

the hubs wont lock in if the actuator is bad or not getting power, you can either borrow a known working actuator and see if it works or just start tracing wires and checking for power first

Have not checked that. What switch is it. The wiring seems to be there and intact for the old 4l60and all

look where the shift lever is located on the case and then look straight up from there, there is a switch that rides on a cam attached to that shift shaft on the inside, that is the 4wd activator switch, 93 and older had a 2 wire and 94+ is 3 wire and they are not interchangeable without swapping that cam
