I've got two question's about Suburban's that I know I can get answered here. 1) I know Suburbans were available in 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton years ago and I would like to know when that ended. 2) Weren't 4wd Suburbans available with a 454 in the 90's and early 2000's ? Thanks

GMT425 is the platform I believe, and offered from 92-2000; 99 and 2000 being considered Classics or something like that.

Someone can come in and expand on this I'm sure.

As far as I know you could get 3/4 ton 2WD and 4WD (C2500 and K2500) Suburbans all the way through the GMT425 platform, which was 1992-1999. The 454 was available as an option throughout that entire year range if I recall correctly.

So are the Suburbans from 1999 and later considered 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton ?

Both were an option, you could get a basic 350 powered 99 K1500 Classic, or a SLT Trim K2500 Suburban with a 454 from 99-2000; also considered a Classic.

Did they even offer the Suburbans as classics from 99-00 though? I've never seen one. Rock Auto doesn't have any parts listings for them, either. I think the '99 and '00 Suburbans were on the GMT800 platform only.

EDIT - Maybe they were, I don't know. GMT425 is listed on Wikipedia as 92-99 so maybe they only did the classic Suburbans for one year? I've seen '99 and '00 Classic pickups but never a Suburban.

They still had the 400 style in 99 and 2K, they didn't offer the GMT800 Burbs/Tahoes/Yukons until 2001, everything I'd read on the 99-2000 GMT400s kind of led me to believe they were all considered classics.

Some Yukon Denalis/Yukon XLs were released from GMC in late 2000, but it was mainly OBS to that point.

But, like I say with all my informational posts, someone can step in and expand on this or correct me.

I've got a '99 k2500 454 Suburban. I guess 'classic' means gmt400 platform?

I have noticed that some places have parts listed as only for Suburbans up to '98, so there does seem to be some confusion.
