Hey Guys,

I've noticed that it seems like my Suburban is starting a little slower in the morning. It used to just start up, but it seems weaker on starting now. My battery is less than a year old and I replaced the alternator about 5 years ago. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

How old is your starter? The old grease probably needs to be cleaned out and be put in it. Grease just like any oil product thickens when it gets cold out. Old grease will start to become hard and put strain on the starter when turning.

Thank you. I've replaced many starters in my day, but I've never heard of cleaning the grease out of one. I do believe that it's still the original starter. You learn something new everyday I guess.

Might be a good idea to check your starter connections and grounds while you're in there, a weakening electrical connection could cause this.
