Every so often (and not very often at all), my starter doesn't work. 95% of the time, my truck will start right up, and start strong to boot. The other 5% of the time, I turn the key and nothing happens. All the other electronics are fine (lights, radio, gauges), but the starter doesn't so much as click. If I leave it and go back later (last time I went back 2 hours later), it starts up like nothing was wrong.

It's a fairly new starter, installed less than 2 years ago. Before I start messing around up there, does anyone have any guidance?

I switched the entire unit. I'm fairly sure everything was tight, but I'll double check. Thanks for your help.

Had the same problem. Twas a loose wire on the solenoid. Yank it out and check your connections.
