Rear shocks

I am wondering if you have to remove the bed to change out the rear shock?
I ask since on my truck is seems like bolts that hold the shock to the frame are tightened from the top down, is this normal or has someone changed them out and put them on incorrectly?

Sounds backwards. Most I've seen you can change from below

Take a picture. That's really odd unless they did a lot of work

No, you do not need to remove the bed. If you can't get the bolts out, use a sawzall. If the sawzall doesn't fit, turn the hardware into a liquid.

That’s just how mine are, I actually removed the original shocks, so that’s the way it was originally.

Bolt comes down from top with nuts on bottom.
