I've run several shock sets on my '96 and I finally settled on the Rancho RS5000's.
The original Z71 Bilsteins wore out so I bought the yellow Monroe Magnums. The Magnums weren't quite stiff enough so I went to the Rancho RS5000's. They rode perfect for me and they were on the truck for over 4 years.
Then I heard a lot of good things about the KYB Monomax's so I gave them a try.
Big mistake for me. Way too stiff. Almost a 1 ton like ride. Very harsh on dirt roads, rough asphalt, or on concrete freeways.
The Monomax's did handle loads extremely well, but with an empty truck, they beat on this old man way too much.
I went back to a new set (sold the old Ranchos) of Rancho RS5000's.
Just my 2 cents.
