Good to know that.

Progress:

I went to put the bracket on for the oil cooler line, like an ******* I put the mounts on the wrong side. I had to tap the hole for the bolt.

I also got the torque converter shield on, which would be impossible with the exhaust hooked up.

Up next, hooking up the exhaust while I wait for the wife to get back with some 3M electrical tape to re-wrap all the wiring.

Reason I know is mine leaked pretty bad when about 4-5 years old. I took it out and left it with all of the other OEM parts removed from my truck (in my parents garage). ABout 4 years ago they had a fire sale (as my dad calls it). The house was struck by lightning and burned to the ground, destroying pretty much everything in it. Fortunately they got out safely when it happened. Unfortunately I no longer have every OEM part from my SS (as well as a bunch of extra parts from my K1500, and lots of GTO parts).

The housing from GM is ~$180. I need a housing, since I bought all new lines, fittings, etc from GM. I'd like to reinstall the cooler someday.

Like I said, all I need is the main housing that bolts to the block. I have brand new lines, clips, fittings, etc.

Yes I would be interested in a used housing.

I tried a few years back to buy one and just gave up.
You will have your part tomorrow, got a picture of EXACTLY what you want?

(Just making sure we are on the same page).

More progress.

Dropped in the dist.

First step: Make sure you're at TDC (top dead center)

Make sure the lock is not in this position when you bolt it down.

These are the best tool's to use.

The reason for the wire on the screwdriver, so if it drops into the block you can fish it out easy. The reason for the screwdriver to turn the oil pump shaft.

If you drop the dist in. and it wont seat like this picture.

*note how the dist is not sitting flush*

Take your screwdriver and turn the oil pump until the shaft falls right into place.

Then after it is aligned right, it will fall into place and sit flat like this.

*note the longer bolt and washers, they are to make timing adjustments easier*

Once completed, the shaft rotor should point/face #1 cyl and sit flush like this.

I don't have a photo of it. It is the part that bolts to the block (then the oil filter screws onto it) and the lines go into it. That is the only part I need. I have brand new GM lines.
