Okay so now that I have a total of 3 GMT400's I'm going to go ahead and just combine them all into one build thread.

I'll go through and post the story for each of them, but for now here's a few pictures. I use Instagram a lot more than I'm on here, but just for the heck of it I'll keep this thread going.

I'll go post the story behind each truck a little later on..

The 97

- First Truck
- 212k Miles
- Seems to be the truck I gut parts off of for other projects...
- Will be taking the 18x10's and putting them on my 94 this winter.

This truck has been the learning curve, what mods look good, what don't.

Bought it used with roughly 150k from a local dealer in 2010. Put quite a few miles on it.

Then took the 18's off so I can put them on the 94 (without much wear) when it's done.

Took the tows off and donated them to the 93...

Replaced the PY0's with a black XD wheel which I can run year round without having to worry about etching in the salt...

The 16" tire is also a lot easier on the wallet, not really a fan of expensive tires on a daily driver or something that's going to see lots of miles.

Painted the peeling chrome grill red, and lined the bumper and rockers black after some rust repairing.

FUTURE PLANS:
GMC Grill
Possibly red tow mirrors
RETIREMENT

This truck has been good to me, but I've got the other projects going on, so once something major goes, it will be retired from service. At 212k the valves are starting to get noisy, burns some oil, the trans isn't quite as tight, the rust is getting worse down by the rockers, beyond what grinding out the rust and Bondo can fix, the frame is getting pretty rusty, it's got some dings and dents and it's just suffering from the rough Midwest winters and a hard life. But I'll run it until it drops, and I think I've got a few years left in it.

- Bought from the St Louis Missouri Area after a deer wrecked the 97, and I was unsure if I was keeping it.
- 362k miles
- The Project, aka #project94
- Will get 18x10's
- engine dilemma, rebuild the 6.5 or swap to a 350/383.

This truck is kind of my dream truck, the white crew cab was the truck I grew up in and my favorite color has always been red, so it's kind of a cross between them. (Truck was a Cheyenne Package)

Then the injection pump went south...... also there is a crack in ether the block or a piston... so the truck sits until I have the time/money to mess with it. Now it's sat for over a year, but that's only because I don't have the time. This winter i'll pull it out and find a replacement engine. Truck is by far my cleanest GMT400.

FUTURE PLANS
Replace Engine
Add 18" wheels & tires, hoping they'll fit since this truck sits 1-2" lower.
Replace fuel sender unit thingy, gauge goes crazy when it's below 1/4 tank. bounces back and forth.
Fix interior armrests/door handles.
Spray in bed liner?
Fifth wheel hitch?

- Bought this truck for $250 from a friend, 4" lift on 33's. Believe the lift is Tuff Country.
- Engine had a cracked head, replaced with a used $150 TBI engine.
- Trans went out, traded it to my dad.
- He replaced it, still has it, doesn't really drive it but its there. He also added new tires.

Don't really have a lot of pics, basically just blacked everything out and replaced the engine and drove it until the trans gave. Drove around just cause it was a 4x4 and everything else I had was 2WD.

I'd love to throw a 12V cummins in the red crew cab... it would just be so fricken expensive...

Lets say $2000-3000 for the motor.
Another $2000 in adapter hardware.
And then if i wanted to do anything with the motor that would be on top of that... just more $$ than i really want to put in it.

Plus idk too much about cummins parts, but i've heard you'd have a big chunk of change in doing simple mods to the motor, (ARP studs/40HP injectors/Bosch pump/airdog lift pump etc, etc.)

Threw a GMC grill on the 97... still waiting on grill insert and corner lenses but overall i really like it. Also ordered some tow mirrors for the 97 because why not have 3 sets of tow mirrors for 3 trucks... :)
