Installed new dash, only that isn’t working is the ash tray light

The 12v works fine, but with a fresh bulb (tried a few) the ash tray light doesn’t come on when opening. Anything I might have missed in reassembly?

Did you try turning the headlights on?

I could be wrong about this (the ash tray bulbs have been burned out in both of my trucks since I've owned them) but I always assumed those lights were just always on when the headlights were on. I'm not sure it would make much sense to have them on in the day time, and I've never noticed a plunger or switch down there that would trigger when the door is opened.
