fuel tank size????

Yeah I hand calculated 12.3 on mine last tank, but the gauge was just over half and I had been 255 miles...I figure I'm good for 325 on a road trip.

Yeah it's because of the length of the tank, you can have a few gallon's left but stretched all the way across the tank it's only 1 or 2 inches deep, and barely keep's the sock covered, I have owned several burb's and they have had 42 gallon tank's and they are even worse you can have 7-8 gallon's in them and be damn near out of gas because they are so wide.

How do we measure it then, in these dinosaurs?

I rely on mileage more than the gauge, but only after you have driven the truck enough to know how many miles it will go on a normal basis.

Every one of these truck's that I have owned the first half of the tank goes real slow, but when it get's to half the gauge drops like a rock.

Mine seems to be the same but not quite as bad some people's. I can go about 150 miles on a 1/4, 200 miles up to half, and then it does drop like a bad habit from there. The best mileage I've gotten is about 15.4.

Do a few hand calculations of your next few tanks and then go with your lowest MPG-1 x 25, then that is the the most I would trust it for.

So lets say your lowest was 13, 13-1x25= 300 miles. Thats my rule of thumb anyhow.
