I went the harder route and ground the key off, they haven't had any problems slipping without it either....it was just a royal PITA to grind it off.

^^^X2.
I also had to do this. A solution I learned from my Dad, who owned & maintained a fleet of cabs with my Unc.
150" of rain a year, here on the 'wet' coast, is hell on wiper systems, especially on taxis.
A pneumatic mini grinder & a cone shaped tip makes short work of the key.

When you mentioned dipping the front bumper, an idea of sorts popped up, maybe one of the photoshoppers can do your bumper in black for you, but only from top of impact strip and down in black....from top edge of strip and up, remain chrome. Might look interesting, sorta like the newer style where it has the lower bumper cover is paint matched and the thin little metal bumper on top is chrome. I don't know, just thinking aloud. If you ease the bumper out just a bit so you can see the edge of the upper bolts in center, then trim or remove the filler panel, you can remove the upper bolts and use them to mount your hella brackets to; make sure you use a 1" thick rubber/urethane spacer between bumper and bracket, so they can be adjusted left-to-right, you'll need to take your old bolts to a hardware store and have them matched to a pair that is 1-2" longer....I did this on my '94 when I had the push bar front end to keep trees and limbs from knocking them all outta whack. This ofcourse positions them relatively close to your grille, but they shouldn't stick out any in that position; whereas if you mounted on the bumper itself, then when you were on the trails or in the bush, the lights would be the first thing to come in contact with saplings versus your bumper with the way mine were. Just an idea is all.
Would you happen to have any pictures of how you had thoses lights mounted. Sounds like a good way to do it

I only have like 2 pics of my yukon, and I don't recall either of them showing the fog setup. I'll check really quick though.

Edit: Nope, don't even have the album on forums anymore. I traded it with cash for another c1500, it got a tree across the roof at my cousin's house when a tornado hit. What size lights were you going to use? I can take an old pair I have laying around that're close to the same size and mock them up to show whereabouts they'd sit.

I haven't looked but are the holes just slotted so you can slide the bumper forward a bit to do this?

Ummm, if I'm remembering right, the holes in the bumper are only slotted left to right, but the holes on center brackets or frame rails are slotted a bit.

I think the hellas are 6.5" in diameter and like 2.5" deep, and if you wouldn't mind doing a mock up for me that would be great!

6.5" circles and 2.5" deep, is this depth measured from front to back, or from center of light(vertically inline with bolt location) to back? Reason I ask, is because some of the reflectors are made very deep to project an extremely wide angle of light, like a floodlight.

I have an old set of kc's that I think are that size or close, I'll set them up on my work truck(aka guinea pig, it gets used to test all sorts of stuff haha)take pics and give you clearances and so forth. That'll be tomorrow at the earliest, not at home right now.

They're 2.5" front to back...they look pretty shallow compared to some others, and thanks for doing that, no hurry man
