Been tossing the idea around in my head about switching my 98's fleetside bed for a rust-free stepside bed for a while now. My only question is, would a stepside look weird on an 8 lugger 2500? This is not something that I am for sure doing, I've just had it in the back of my head for quite sometime. There is a guy in my area that has a mint stepside bed for about $1100 with tailgate. Always kinda thought the stepsides looked good on these trucks. Lemme know your guys' thoughts. Thanks.

I don't think it would look bad either. This truck looks pretty cool with a stepside. Need more of a diagonal view of this one:

I thought $1100 was high as well. I probably don't want to spend more than $800 for one. I know with the stepsides, the rails like to rust out, but that shouldn't be a problem as I don't drive it in the winters anymore.

I was reading about the swap and that was one of the things listed. That and cutting the rear bumper lip to fit between the stepside rails.

Ugliest stepside ever made is the gmt400 . I love every other stepside ever made. Owned a 1980 black stepside in highschool, sex on wheels.

Probably just gonna end up sticking with the fleetside. Trying to get a guy to sell me his Lund Racerback that fits my 98 and they seem to look better on the fleetsides.

Stepsides look neat but are pretty worthless to haul
anything. Most toolboxes ladder racks won’t fit cross bed. Getting tonneau or bed covers is hard these days and expensive. Unless you just Gotta have a stepside I would stick to a fleet side.

And on a good note you just saved yourself $8-1100 and the cost of painting a new bed.
