i'm swapping an 02 LS1 motor & trans into my 96 chevy silverado.
i have a standalone harness & will not be using the truck ECU at all.

my question is about the Neutral Safety Switch. the 4l60e i took out the truck has is but the 02 f-body trans doesn't. since i'm not using the factory truck ECU i shouldn't need the NSS on the new trans correct?

i went to pull a part today & crawled under just about every 96+ rear wheel drive chevy & found that a 99 astro van has the same shifter lever as the F-body's (ball facing out) but it has the small ball on it to fit the truck cable.

another fix would be swap out the shafts. this way is a lot easier.

maybe, not one s-10 at the yard had a trans so i couldn't tell you. i can tell you that 96 astro van has the older style rod linkage & not the cable.
