Customer Concern: Trouble code 43 sets as soon as it is started.

Tests/Procedures:
1. Verify the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is sending 5 volts to the knock sensor with the sensor disconnected.

2. If not, check the Blue wire for an open or short to ground.

3. If 5 volts was present, ohm the sensor. The sensor has a 3900 ohm resistor in it that pulls the 5 volts down to about 2.5 volts. If the sensor had about 99,000 ohms, it is the wrong sensor.

4. Check the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve for proper operation.
Tech Tips: The sensor screws into a cooling jacket. Do not add sealer to the threads, as it can lessen the sensor's ability to detect a ping.

Confirmed Fix: Knock Sensor
