they're getting harder to find, but, has anyone installed a multiple shock kit on their truck? (so that you now have 2 shocks for each corner of the truck, 8 total)

are they worth it? are they awesome?
thoughts?

Mine had 12 friggin shocks on it when I bought it!!! 4 in front and 8 of them on rear. 2 on each front wheel is fine, but one each side in rear is plenty. Any more and youll have to drill holes in them to allow suspension to move.

Thats all thats left of it, removed them the day she came home. Still have the 4 up front, they were still in good shape. The 6 across the rear probably looked cool at one time, but the thought of replacing them made my debit card run for cover.

Only worth it if you're trying to damp some really serious tire weight or are catching big air on a regular basis.

True. Probably not worth the cost for how I use the truck, but it was on there when I bought it. I do like the look though.

Shocks dampen spring oscillation. Now, if you were driving on washboard road, there may be a benefit to running multiple shocks, but let's be serious here... you would have to be really ******* it along to overheat a single shock in any normal application.

I suspect the same people that hyped this trend are behind the " extreme camber " fad for cars. Imagine burning off a set of $ 1000 rubber in about as many miles, just to 'look' cool, with no advantage other than a big hole in your wallet. :hahano:

Yup, I remember many a "multishocked" truck int he 80's with one or two functioning shocks per wheel and the rest were new shock with a drill hole in them to let the oil and charge out.

Multi Shock setups are becoming obsolete because shock technology has enhanced so much since back then. You can get one good price shock that will work and can be tuned to your liking for less than the cost of 2 or 3 or even 4 per corner. Dual shock hoops in the front are not TOO bad, but can be done just as well or better with a single good shock.
