not particularly sure why people find this comical, Untamed harmonics can certainly break a crankshaft, it's not conjecture or opinion, feel free to discuss it with a high end engine builder.

Problem is replacement might end up being a basket case, sometimes better to run what ya brung and try to fix what you have, lol.

yeah, you can make them look good by replacing all of the old plastic.

I do apologize, @Hipster. Nothing to joke about indeed. I've actually had my crankshaft bent a couple of times - not broken, thank heavens - due to an unbalanced big block. Paired with all that upfront torque and you're in big trouble...
