Hi Everyone here !!!
Performance bug has bit again, with great success we modified a
stock L98 with a set of AFR Heads, Accel/Lingenfelter Super Ram intake
and all of the proven LPE Combo.

This time we have a 1996 Yukon and we plan on give some power to the
1996 stock L31, We want to keep thing simple but the cam/head selection
might be a bit difficult.

First thing we will do is put a set of 1 5/8 long tube headers.

Since is a Vortec, we think the best head is AFR0912

We will add a true roller timing set
and a set of 1.6 or 1.5 (not sure) full roller rocker arms.
Brand new set of Lifters
Chrome Moly Pushrods

Here comes the difficult part :
Which cam selection? We were looking for a choppy idle but since
it's computer controlled efi it won't like it, so the choice is the LT4 Cam or Hotcam (not sure if they are the same).

We have the stock injection, will not go carb.
We were looking for the marine intake but it's real hard to find,
as far as we know the stock intake will be fine to 400crank hp or so which is our goal.
We might need high stall converter no problem, 2800-3200 Vigilante
will make the trick. We don't want to touch the gears we have 3.42.

What do you think of the Head selection?
We would love to read all of the suggestions, or proven combos.
We basically want more power out of it, Not a race truck, mostly a daily driver
but we want more fun and SOTP feel while retaining good mileage under normal driving conditions
and good torque as well.

Thanks in advance !!!

Yes LT4 hot cam will be perfect. Max lift is like .515, use 1.6 roller rockers, there is a few great write ups on the cam swap to a vortec 5.7 if you search google, im on my phone so its hard to get all the links for you.

I'm interested in the 2k-3500 RPM towing performance of the lt4 cam & 1.6 rockers. My truck seems to be weak in this area. Especially between 2500-3000 rpm.

i saw it on somewhere before but it was a mpfi intake had a 1450 square bore mounting flange but allowed for a fuel rail, was said at one point to be a vortec upgrade, id look into that and a 411 pcm swap or something to handle the added cam and air flow, id kinda dial that stall down a bit, it is a truck 3200 is a bit high id think, considering if i remember correctly something around 2500-2800 is stall speed on that cam.

What about a factory 4.3 S 10 converter? It's supposed to be a 2800 stall straight from the dealer?
