it didn't take long for things to start changing!
on the outside... lift, tires, black out the emblems, fender flares, chrome overlay on the grille, new brake lights, tonneau cover...

lots of fun changes to the interior!
one thing i didn't understand is why chevy would put a grab handle on the passenger's side pillar and on the driver's side in the 1500s. they are there in the 2500s and 3500s - oh well. so i added that (and LOVE it!!). i even had a 'helper' when i did the install!!

i got better truck mats for the front seats

then came the really fun stuff... changing the interior lighting to blue. a buddy of mine is involved with big productions that use tons of lighting equipment and gave me a bunch of old "gels" that are used to colour spotlights. i then took apart pretty much everything that glowed white and used the blue gel to cover the white leds - so now stuff glowed blue! i also added a bunch of blue leds for foot lighting.

and for the controls - changing them from glowing white to glowing blue took lots of patience, but this is pretty much what i did for all of it...

before:

take everything apart to get access to the leds, then cover the leds with the blue gel, then reassemble everything...

and the result...

i did this for everything in the truck - it took a while but i love it! eventually i'll actually swap out the white leds for blue leds... but that will have to wait until i'm reeeeeally bored and have lots of free time!

then it was onto the dash - i swapped out needles, painted stuff, added overlays and changed a bunch of leds to blue (shocking... i know). it makes a HUGE difference!

this was stock:

so i took that all apart, then painted some of the new stuff - the new needles became black as well as the plate that covers the top 4 gauges...

as i mentioned, i changed a bunch of the leds on the cluster to blue and then put it all back together...

i even changed things like the turn signal leds from green to blue...

then i still wanted to change more of the interior to blue so i had some fun with vinyl and wrapped a bunch of stuff. i'm still not sold on the wrap and at some point i'll likely remove it and just paint the pieces, but for now the vinyl will do...

the silver parts that are on either side of the steering wheel are also blue... just don't have a pic of them after they were wrapped.

then it was back to changing more stuff on the 'outside' of the truck

i added a pop n' lock for the tailgate handle - i love that thing. not sure why it wasn't a stock feature on the truck

i added a new third brake light to 'match' my tail lights...

i also did one of my favourite mods yet - i added 3 red leds above my license plate (in the gap between the bumper and the tail gate)...

another really fun thing i made for my truck was a box divider. i was using a 2x8 but i wanted to 'dress it up a little' - so i designed a pattern and went to town with my drill & router...
