Does anybody have any info on swapping a big block Olds 455 into our gmt400's? I've used the search function on here and searched on google for a while without much info at all. I've got a built 455 I'd like to stuff off into a 91 swb. Even got a muncie 4 speed to throw behind it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have never attempted such a thing, but I wouldn't think it would be too hard. It would be a cool project. Personally, I'd go for a Buick or Cadillac engine.

Put Buick 455's in a couple of OBS,a 78 and a 79.Apples and oranges I know, but the motors fit pretty well, only real problem was passenger side exhaust was kinda close to the firewall. And TORQUE!Seems like the GMT400 would actually have more room to work with, being as the A/C is inside under the dash.

I put a 425 olds into a 1987 short wide once. Used the 350 diesel mounts and it bolted right in. Used a bellhousing adapter to keep the 700r4 until the torque of the olds killed it. Used a 454 TBI unit on a factory 454 TBI-Q-Jet adapter and a 307 distributor from feedback carb system on a late 80s Cadillac. Ran very well after dialing in the TBI ECM.

My son bought a '91 1500 4x4 Suburban with a fuel injected 455 in it with a TH400. It was an interesting combo. Way more work than I would put into a swap like that when there are so many direct fit swap in's available. It's a lot of work, but definitely doable.
