So now I have a second set of rims with new tires but am getting tired of the white truck with red wheels. so played with something different. I wanted a pastel color like they used in the 50's. Truck has a blue interior so I went with that

Finally got around to fixing the dent behind the rear wheel drivers side that was there when I bought it 3 years ago. You know about the cobbler's son?

So color is picked and still a few little things to repair before paint. Trouble is the truck is my daily driver and my shop is where I work from so can't tie up either for more than a weekend. Plus it's boating season so just working on windy or crappy weekends so I painted in sections. Starting with my new second hand hood that had the usual dings across the front from hitting it to open instead of lubing the latch.

Ever swap out a hood on

these trucks alone? It can be done.
First open hood and tie it front and rear in the open position.

Unbolt and back the truck out carefully then lower the old hood to a fender stand.

Tie the new hood and pull it up to where the old one was and pull back in

Bolt it on untie and align. Now go have a drink. I have gotten good at doing two man jobs alone working from home and find it easier than having help from someone that hasn't done this work and keeps moving things when you are trying to start bolts.

So time to fix some of the things that didn't really show up but needed attention. The left rear bed pocket had a tearout at one time before I got the truck. I couldn't get under it to repair so since I had a parts truck I just cut out the damage and welded a patch in.

Bottom of fender had some surface rust from road debris so cleaned it up with a wire wheel and primed.

A little paint in the left Jamb

Left side all sanded and ready to mask. This is the nicest vehicle I have ever painted for myself that is why it took 3 years to get around to painting it. The primer spots you see were dents most people would never even notice except for the one behind the rear wheel.
