Repainted mine with a four inch foam roller and a gallon can of Rustoleum/ Tremclad paint. Very little cost but a lot of sanding between coats. Well worth the effort if you have the time. Like you it's just used in the summer to carry the truck camper.

A roller? You caveman. I rattle canned mine...
