They made both concurrently. GMT400 based 2000 model year Escalade, Yukon Denali, Tahoe Limited, and Tahoe Z71 were leftover 400s.

Anyho' I have 285/75/16 on OEM 16s with only a slight rub on the lower corner of the front air dam.....on my 94 K Blazer. That size would be my suggestion, proportionally looks perfect....make sure you have 3.73s though.

Haven't researched it, but I've never seen 15" wheels on a GMT400.

16" is ultra-common. My '88 came with steelies, but got swapped for OEM 16" aluminum wheels when the tire store I was using had some take-offs.

My ex wife is running 32x11.5x15 Falken Wildpeaks with American Racing wheels on her '97 GMC K1500 4x4 suburban and it works, looks great too!
