Depends on what you need it for. A good solid truck that hauls random crap around or as a DD would be a 350. For hauling a 454 would be a lot better suited.

I didn't vote, they both have their places and situations, and both are great powerplants.

Im with ya....because I still think the newer LS motors are much better than either of them. I dont care which one you pick, I still think a 6L would kick eithers ass. Saying that, I love my 350 with over 350,000Kms on it.

(The weight and effeciency of a small block) + (The power and reliability of a big block) = WIN

im not sure about the 6.0 ive been in all three i personally prefer the 7.4 but thats me. the 6.0s are nice and have a ton of power but i still like the 7.4 more. and then again i guess i just loved the truck that had the 7.4 more than any of the other trucks, dang i miss that truck

i think the 6L is a good motor but i would pick a 350 over it. no comment on the 454 as i never drove a truck with one

My 98 ECSB 4x4 with a 7.4 got 10mpg in stock trim with a 80/20 town/road driving. I pulled off the cats, put on a flowmaster, and added a K&N and this tank is on par for 13mpg. I can live with that, I pulled a trailer with a vehicle on it today and it was like it wasn't even there. I think with a good performance build on the 4l80 and a good tune on the computer I could get close to 15mpg out of it and have a beast of a pull rig.

I could see myself replacing the 7.4 with a 6.0 when it dies, the main reason being the cost involved with rebuilding the big block vs. picking up a good used complete 6.0 and having all the newest technology.
