I got a great deal on a 289 454 block. I've seen a bunch of post over trans will obviously not hold up, computer won't swap blah blah blah. Haven't really found much on if it will fit k1500 size wise and motor mount wise. Trans will be a built 700r4 from monster with 14 bolt ff so not too worried there. Will be carbed as well so no computer junk to worry about either. Just wondering if it will fit in engine bay.

X2, and personally I would want something beefier than a 700R4 behind a 454 anyway.

My 1999 Tahoe has an 8.1/4l80E sitting in it currently. Still working on the swap but I sat it in the engine compartment, bolted it to the small block mounts and it fit with room to spare. 8.1 is also a tall deck big block FWIW. I am going OBD2 and DBW on it. I removed all the mechanical throttle linkage an mechanical cruise this afternoon. I am using an 8.1 van engine harness that I am mating to the Tahoes existing engine harness. y plan is to make it look like GM put it there and function just like an OEM 8.1 truck.
