2500 HD 6.0 wont start

Ok heres the deal I found a 05 chevy crew cab long bed 2500 HD 6.0 with 79k miles. Its kinda beat up but overall in good shape he wants $3000 and a beat up 2000 chevy single cab long bed I have. The only problem is that the 05 wont start he said it could be the fuel pump or he said they had some recall on the wiring for something. Anyone know what could be wrong with it?

We need a bit more than it just won't start.

Does it give a 'tick' when you try to turn it over?
Does it have power to auxilary/headlights/radio but not to the ignition?
Does it turn over and just turn and turn and turn? Like there is no gas getting to the intake?

Be as detailed as possible and that'll give us a clue as to what kind of tips we need to give you.
