damn guys I really want to do the 14bolt upgrade soon. Will the 4.56 gears I bought for my 10 bolt be able to be swapped into the new axle? Sounds like I need to find a junk'd gmt400 with a 14..and probably just buy 1 rear 4.56 kit for the 14 and sell off the 10. What's average price for a 14?

No the 8.5" gears for the 10 bolt will not work in the 9.5" 14 bolt.

Average price for the 14 sf axle or the gear set? I bought a set of 4.88's(yes, it's overkill..i know) from Richmand for right under $400.

It's a 6 lug 14 bolt!!!
That's what i need right now...
Does anyone know if you can take an eight lug 14 bolt and switch the rotors and axles to a six lug like the one above?
Like if I found a normal 3/4 ton 14 bolt rear end in a junk yard can I buy 6 lug axles to fit it?

The closest pick n pull salvage yard to me is in waco and they are having a 50% off sale on rear ends july 1st-4th so i need to know asap.

Are you talking about a full floater or semi-floater with 8-lugs? It won't be worth the money it would cost you to convert it. Just find the one you need to start with.

Picked the 14 bolt 4wd sf 6 lug, up the other day. I'll post in here later this week when I get it all hooked up. Hey question, what should I do about shocks? Right now I just need some decent/alright ones until I lift the truck. Should I buy shocks for a 2500 pickup? Its going in my 96' rcsb 1500 4wd. I've got the precision 447 kit and I've been told I need to move the spring perches? I haven't looked yet. Where will I be moving them? And is there anything else I'll need to do to make it fit?

if you got a 6lug out of a 4wd 88-98 it will bolt right in place of the old 10 bolt

the shocks you already have will work

you shouldnt have to move the spring perches any if it came out of the same body style truck

only thing you will need is either the 10 bolt yoke or the conversion u joint for the 10 bolt driveshaft to 14 bolt yoke

the spring perches on a 2500 are shorter than 1500...you will be 1.5 inches lower than you were
