    More Power

Anyone can do a regear with patience. It's not rocket science and you can get it right by yourself. Don't let anyone tell you that ya can't. I used this manual and have about 10k trouble free miles so far...

Towing with 5 speed and clutch upgrade questions

I'm assuming you will have the getrag trans or an nv3500. Neither of which I would advise towing in 5th. They just aren't build to withstand that kind of abuse. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

    Info on NV4500

I don't think just driving them kills them. I've heard a few people say they drove them for a long time w/ no issues. But I'm here to tell you now that you can't tow with them. I never even towed in 5th and went through two before I went to nv4500. On a side note behind an anemic 6.2 they...

What kind of mileage do you get?

Well I was cranking ~ 2k rpm at 70 so I figured 3.73. Maybe not? Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

What kind of mileage do you get?

    Took the work pickup on a road trip today. 05 GMC 2500hd. 6.0, 4l80e, & 3.73's. 14mpg Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

What kind of mileage do you get?

I think a large part of that is the auto trans found behind most. I've got a good friend with an 01 6.0 5spd in a 2500 and he gets about 15. Again that's a 3.73 gear and a heavier pickup though. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

    How big of tires/rims

This is a 285/70/17 on a 9.5" wheel. They measure 32.5" tall and this is stock ride height, no crank, and a little front bumper trimming. I should also add that when I put the suspension to the extreme I get a bit of rub on the bumper Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

    Info on NV4500

I guess I may have lost the 1:30 as well, I can't quite remember now. Either way, I haven't had any issues with mating the two together. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

What kind of mileage do you get?

I would attribute my mileage to having a lighter pickup, a manual trans, and 3.42 gears. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

If you had to start looking for a new truck tommorow, what would you look for?

Extended cab squarebody, 3/4 ton LS swapped... Some sort of roots blower on it NV4500, maybe even ZF 6speed Very small lift, maybe 2" w/ the exact wheels and tires on my pickup Done and done, then just work the piss out of it.

    Info on NV4500

Dodge trans is the same animal, different input shaft... the top covers changed somewhere in the mid 90's, i wanna say 95? The 4 bolt top cover makes maneuvering the trans in and out a bit easier as it isn't as tall as the earlier ones. The top covers swap out with one another though. I've got...

What kind of mileage do you get?

On the highway I generally see 16-17 out of the 6.0. I have gotten as good as 18.5, and as bad as 8.5. It doesn't seem to matter if I am towing 12,000# or an empty trailer, I usually get 9-10 towing.

Clutch and flywheel for an NV4500 swap

I've got a spare external slave bell housing, as well as a brand new ac delco clutch kit. I would sell them pretty cheap together, but shipping will not be cheap.

How Much Can YOU Haul IN 1/2 Ton???

Sorry I can't find full picture anymore... This is about 2200# of wet sand while helping a buddy build his boy a sand box... I've got a Hellwig helper leaf in there cranked almost all the way down too. She sat on the bump stops the whole way home. 80psi in the tires btw.

    NV 3500 Manual

Agreed on how you use it. I don't drive my pickup like a pissed off teenager but I do use it to tow fairly often. Something the 3500 just wasn't built for. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

    NV 3500 Manual

Bell housing is not permanent on nv4500, it is removable and many junkyards will sell it as a separate piece.

    NV 3500 Manual

NV3500 rebuild = Major PITA NV4500 rebuild = Simple and can be done with almost no specialty tools You want the 4500, trust me... I went through 2 NV3500's and I didn't even thrash on them. I got an NV4500 w/200k miles on it from a junkyard for $500 with the bell housing and have put 30k on it...

Sorry I actually ran to the pick-a-part this weekend and nabbed one. It was only $10 so I couldn't pass it up. Thanks though!

What's going on with my clutch? -PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thanks for the ideas guys, but it's a stock clutch kit, and there aren't any alignment issues. I tried running. 6.0 clutch kit behind it when I first did the swap but it had clearance issues with the bell housing. I just finished replacing a broken exhaust bolt on my trailblazer as yesterday...

What's going on with my clutch? -PLEASE HELP!!!!

I've got about 10k miles on my lq4 swap in my 93 k1500. I haven't had a single problem to date with the engine, but my clutch system has been a nightmare. I am running a stock 350 clutch kit behind the 6.0, and mated to an nv4500 trans with the external slave bell housing. It always seemed to...
