    Towing with a Vortec 454?

Yeah, they tow really well. I have a few things done to mine. I have no cats, flowmasters, ls1 injectors, but no tune yet. I have been too lazy to get it done.

5.7 vs 7.4 whats your opinion

I could see myself replacing the 7.4 with a 6.0 when it dies, the main reason being the cost involved with rebuilding the big block vs. picking up a good used complete 6.0 and having all the newest technology.

    7.4 starting problems

that makes sense, it usually only does it after is sits for 1 to 4 hours, any shorter or longer and it is fine.

5.7 vs 7.4 whats your opinion

My 98 ECSB 4x4 with a 7.4 got 10mpg in stock trim with a 80/20 town/road driving. I pulled off the cats, put on a flowmaster, and added a K&N and this tank is on par for 13mpg. I can live with that, I pulled a trailer with a vehicle on it today and it was like it wasn't even there. I think...

    7.4 starting problems

Would it be more likely that it is leaking out at the injectors, or back at the pump.

    7.4 starting problems

Ok, I hope I explain this all right. I have a 98 2500 with a 7.4 and I think that it is losing prime between starts. I can turn the key over and hear the fuel pump and the first time I hit the key it seems like 1 or 2 cylinders hit and then nothing. It normally takes 3 or 4 more times of...

Well, I just had the cat's cut off and a dual in dual out 40 series Flowmaster and turndowns put on. It sounds really good with the big block. I also put in a K&N air filter today. Hoping to hit the 12mpg mark now.

Is there a seal on the factory sliding rear windows

Great, that is what I figured, there is a pretty good gap between the 2 pieces of glass. I guess I had better quit being lazy and get it fixed.

Is there a seal on the factory sliding rear windows

My sliding back glass seems to have alot of space between the sliding part and where it overlaps the back glass. Is there supposed to be a seal of somekind there, and if there is where can I find one.

I was surprised at how much more the 285's were going to cost, it was 30 to 40 per tire more depending on which ones I got.

Well I found a set of PYO's with center caps for $250 today so they are down at the tire shop getting a new set of Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S 10plys put on, they are going to mount them on my truck after work, I will take an updated pic when I get home. It rained pretty hard here this weekend and...

    Question about cat's

Ok, right now it is dual 3" all the way out to gay rusty tips poking out the back right now. I think I am just going to Y it and run a 40 series or super44 Flowmaster and take out a single 3" pipe near the factory location.

    Question about cat's

If I ran a Y and took it all down to a single 3" pipe under the cab, no cat, and a 40 series flowmaster would that be free flowing enough for the 454.

What do you guys think about a set of 17" H2 wheels with some 265/70/17's, or can I fit 285's under it without doing anything.

    Question about cat's

Sweet, that is what I will do. Where in Central, AR are you at, I live in Harrison.

    Question about cat's

Will the lack of cat's on a 98 454 cause the engine light to come on. Also what would the factory configuration of the exhaust have been in it. It's a 98 2500 4x4, right now it has 3" duals all the way out.

Thanks for the replies, I am really liking it so far. The guy I bought it from bought it in 2001 with 50k miles on it. He said it still had the same tires on it as when he bought it, they are hard as a rock and drive like crap. He also said that he hasn't tuned it up at all, so I bet it still...

Well I finally bought another real truck after my last one tried to knock down a tree about 50mph and didn't fair too well from that. I am heading to trade my Jeep for this one right after work. I will take some better pics after I get it tonight, these are what I got over craigslist. 1998...
