the powersteering pump from my experience usually leak from the evo area which is on the pressure line attatched to the pump. all the new pumps you find wont have the the evo anymore. they sell an evo bypass pipe if you are using a stock replacement line. they also have a line at the autoparts store that does a 180* turn instead of using the bypass fitting. i would use the bypass and stay away from anything autozone brand. use acdelco when you can. take your time tracing the powersteering leak. some trucks have a small cooler that fits inside the frame rail in the front of the driver side. blast it with brake cleaner and follow the lines

Thanks I'll make sure I take my time and get the new pump if it comes down to that.

while looking for your brake leak look at the inside of the rear tires for wetness the wheel cylinders could be leaking too.

Yeah I know I have some old calipers. Even though they're back I'm going to go over everything. I don't know why that would have happened.

you live in canada. cold causes things to shrink and that includes rubber and metal. the cold weather finally did the brittle stuff in

Weak brake pedal pressure on these trucks often means worn master cylinder.

Obviously you need to look for leaks like everyone has said, but if you find none, the master cylinder probably has worn internals.

I didn't think I did. Because it's a 1500, I was under the impression that diesels had the hydroboost. I'll send a pic on my lunch break.
I thought so too. but my 96 C3500 SRW 7,4L/454 has Hydroboost. I was losing power steering fluid. I had my wife move the wheel and I watched under the hood. Fluid leaked at master cylinder. Pain to replace hydroboost pump but learned to wear gloves when working under dash to replace it. Not your issue but thought I would throw this comment in.

Hey guys, last night I started leaking power steering fluid. I don't have time to fix it until this weekend when I'm not working. Today I topped up the power steering today just so I can get to and from work. On my way i started losing pressure in my brakes.

It's a 1998 K1500. 5.7 L vortec...

Pull the vacuum hose off the brake booster that goes to engine and see if thereis brake fluid in it and if so then the brake fluid is getting sucked out of master cylinder through the v acuum booster

Hey guys. So it is the high pressure hose for power steering. Found a hole in it when it's at full lock. Grabbed one from part source going to replace it.

Also, lost brakes again. Resevoir was low. The small part of the resevoir was empty and the large side was half empty. Filled it up, in a matter of a couple pumps it was gone again. Same thing, small part empty. I still had a bit of brakes at the end of my pedal so I used those to limp home thank god I was only a few blocks away.

I can't find a hole from the rubber line but I think that's where it is coming from. If I have my information correct, the small side of the resevoir is for drum brakes and the large is for discs. Like I said, I can't see where the leak is coming from and I'm out of brake fluid now until I buy more. Here's some pics I grabbed quick.

Pretty wet driver side rear. So tomorrow I'll grab fluid and put it in and get my brother to push the brakes so I can see if it's coming from those rubber hoses. Weather here had been super cold to warm fluctuating alot. Not sure if that has anything to do with these hoses going or not.

There is only 1 line going to the back of the truck. No real diagram needed.
