The ht383 is vortec based. Those are tbi heads. The intake bolts are perfectly vertical on a set of vortec heads.HT383 crate motor?
The individual injectors will just come out of the spider, no biggie. The pulley shouldn't be that close. Did you use the same belt drive? If the braided strap and the body ground are both getting hot then you have an issue with the negative cable not having a good connection to the block. It should be bolted low on the block to one of the two bolts to the passenger side of the crank pulley. You may have to sand a bit of paint off to get a good connection. The braided strap would have been bolted to the back of the head but to the bell housing is fine.I have three issues but I'm almost done.First issue is I broke one of my fuel injector tips off.Ordered a new one.How do you change these? Hopefully it just comes out when I undo those little screws.Second thing is my serpentine belt wouldn't go on at the crank pulley and water pump pulley. The two pulleys aren't touching but almost. Not enough room to squeeze it in between the two pulleys without un bolting the water pump pulley and feeding the belt through then tightening the pulley. It's wired, maybe a bent pulley? Last issue is the ground strap on the passenger side that looks like a flat skinny gasket.Does it bolt to the tranny bolts or head? When I tried to start the new motor it didn't start and that ground strap got real hot and smoked just a bit.The battery ground got hot too.Maybe my broken fuel injector I found was causing a short? Right now the ground strap is on the frame to tranny bolt.Thanks,Dan.
The ht383 is vortec based. It is the same block and heads as the standard 5.7 Vortec but it is .030 over bored and.with a longer stroke crank. His engine has traditional heads with 6 intake bolts per head that are are a 90 degree angle to the machined surface of the intake side of the head. Vortecs have 4 intake bolts per head and the bolts are vertical when the head is installed on the block.Thought the HT383E was the vortex?
Sorry not trying to hijack the install
