    that's not enough voltage to to make the alt work, you can either trace the wire back and find where you are loseing power at or since it is hot all the time anyhow run a wire from the positive side of the battery right to the alt, if you do that i would put a peice of fuseible link wire in it...

    if you have the block good and clean i would guess the water pump is warped, you say it is newer but they are all made off shore

    glad it was something simple, have been in the towing and auto repair for thirty years now, have gone out on a bunch of calls where something flew off the seat in a panic stop and knocked the transfer case out of gear

    i would verify the engine temp just because it is a new thermostat doesn't mean it is good, a few years ago i went thru three t stats before i got a good one, a lot of off shore junk parts on the market anymore
