quick question, I gotta 91 C3500 (dually) with the 454..... What are the sensors mounted directly above the exhaust manifolds on the heads? Theres one on the passenger and driver side middle of the engine..... I tapped the one on the driverside and it crumbled into dust. are they coolant temp sensors?

Thanks
Engine coolant temp for the dash gauge on the driver's side, aux. fan switch on the pass. side.I have a toggle switch connected to the aux. fan switch wire so I can turn it on any time I want.

Anyone know what all is required to upgrade to run an LT4 cam? Summit racing has the Chevrolet Performance LT4 Hot cam kit for about $600 or so, and it's the cam I was thinking about running.

Would I need to get a tune to run it or is it a plug and play type deal?

I can't find a clear answer on this. I apologize if this is already posted somewhere, I didn't see it if it was.

Not sure about the other details, but pretty much any cam swap is going to require a tune to run properly.

Proper installation of this kit will require machine work to the top side of your heads to allow the springs to fit. You'll absolutely need a tune.

Jeez, I was under the opinion it was just a plug and play type deal. I plan to rebuild the motor, and while it's opened up install the cam.

Ok, I'm beating myself over the head trying to make a plan for the best way to rebuild my 350.

Now it's
Basic Rebuild (What all do I need to keep in mind for this also?)
Cam (What is the best cam to upgrade my power level but not completely rape my mileage, this is my DD)
411 PCM with a Black Bear Tune
Headers and a high-flow cat to a "performance" type muffler,

Can anyone give me advice on what else I need to do to be able to successfully rebuild my 5.7L

That cam isn't necessarily a great match for a heavy truck. Also it isn't a great match for an L31 intake manifold and fuel system.

Actually you can do springs and retainers to go up to .550 without machine work.

Valve Spring Kit for SB Chevy Vortec
High Performance Hydraulic Roller Cams, up to .550" Lift w/ 130 Lbs seat pressure

Completely aware and agreed. I remarked regarding the question Bowtie asked about the hot cam kit, that comes with springs/locks/retainers. He'd need to grind down the bosses is using the stuff in that kit. However, the alexsparts kit would require no machining. I'm running the alexsparts kit on the '395 cammed L31 in my Suburban.
