I usually never hit anything in 4x4, rather wait until 4x2 isn't getting you nowhere then engage 4x4 to save your ass. If you rely solely on 4x4 from the get go, you get over confident and get in a jam with no easy out. Tires play a big role and experience.

I don't have anything around here that I ever have to use 4x4 except snow lol

The only time we use 4x4 in my uncles f250 is when we tried traversing a hill with wet pine needles. I have never seen a mud terrains struggle until then

No doubt there! Went muddin last night and the cops showed up...we ditched out the back entrance and my truck was going through holes that the dodges (with 35's and 37's) behind us were struggling with. Everyone said they are either buying a chevy or duratrac's lol.
