Come down and do LED's in mine? lol. I'd go with white, No fancy colors for me haha :D

If you go white for your switches, you might as well leave the incandescent bulbs in. (not gonna lie, 88-94 aren't a whole lot of fun to retrofit.) lol. Unless them bulbs are burnt out. Which would then make this a maintenance project, not a fun project

And maintenance is never any fun. :sleepy:

(personally, I'd go with warm white LEDs to maintain 100% stock look, and cool white LEDs for "fresher" illumination. Pure white is hard to come by in component form and I wouldn't think it'd be worth the hassle of trying to find and then put behind switches. It'd be worth it for gauge illumination, which I might have to resort to for my HVAC...)

For whatever reason, I don't consider teal/green fancy. Maybe its just a mentality I have that keeps me (in my head) separated from the ricer and the *ahem* african american car modification community. Red and green are nice night colors and in my book aren't too ricey (still a bit ricey), but just about anything else is too much. Mind you, my favorite color is blue, so I'm not being biased.

Got home to find out dad is going down to the south house (his gf's) and he forgot to drop off some supplies that I need for my next mini project. His van is a mobile shoppe so its the life blood of almost everything I do to MY truck. I can twist wires and electrical tape sh*t together without a care on other people's trucks, but my truck its either wire connectors in the field or solder in the house. No exceptions. And I need wire connectors and some dremel tool bits. Not worth the gas to go back into town to buy some, plus he gets em surplus.

So, tomorrow I can work on my mini project. Which I shall inform you and remind myself of: Got 12v acc. outlets from that ole' scrap truck that belonged to a kid I know. Thankfully they were intact with the plastic cause the rest of the truck is vandalized and beaten to hell with a sledge hammer and an axe. (The traditional "send-off" for any vehicles going to the SCRAP yard)

With these 12v outlets, I shall cut out and mount one of them up under the dash WAY out of sight and then wire the outlet to a switch. I shall then plug my GPS charger/nessicary-to-run-it-for-longer-than-five-minutes plug into it and thus remove the chord I've been stumbling on when I hop in my truck or sometimes accelerate. Then I can turn the outlet on with a switch and BOOM, GPS is powered and I have two open stock 12v outlets (the outlets dedicated to cig lighters always are ). Plus, it all looks stock. Which is what this kid LOVES to do.

Might as well change the oil today... the god damn thing is probably 6000 miles over-due. Chebus Jisht.

Changed my oil all by myself. JUST KIDDING! I ALMOST DID. (mileage reference: 164xxx. So I know roughly when I should change it next.)

Anything mechanical or useful to the operation of my truck is 99.9% of the time worked on at someone else's place. After god knows how many miles since I've CHANGED my oil, let alone just added more, I decided on a nice, calm clear afternoon/evening, I'd change it and the filter. That'd be today.

Had to call the neighbor for a oil filter wrench. Every other time I've changed my oil (consisting of friends' tools and their garages, but I still do the labor me-self), I hand tighten the filter on and am able to hand-loosen it, with a certain amount of ********-wrenching effort.

No avail tonight, so neighbor came over with the tool (as I had already drained the oil out) and I got it all done by myself. So proud!

Most exciting part of it all is now having waste oil to burn!

Just a lil teaser of my GPS wiring project...

UPDATE!

Got it all wired up. I flipped the switch and nothing happened, which is a first (okay, probably second or third, but its a very rare occurrence). I jiggled the outlet harness a tad and twisted it just right that it grounded properly. Super glued the harness in that "sweet spot" so that it won't move with all the vibrations associated with driving a V8 pickup. I had to pry the harness off in order to put connectors on it, so that stretched the plastic and thus it won't "snap" on perfectly anymore. I'll let the glue set up overnight and clean up the wiring underneath tomorrow morning.

Damn am I glad that I don't have to trip over that stupid charger cord for my GPS anymore. Now I can flip a switch and she turns on just fine. I even wired it up to an illumination switch so that my foot-well glows a tad bit red when its on, thus reminding me to turn it off. I mostly use the thing at night anyways, if I need to go to a bonfire WAY out in the boonies or if I'm driving home from one.

Sun is out, and there is little to absolutely no wind. What prime weather to do some paint touch-up and glue my bumper molding strip back on.

The molding has been dangling ever since I backed into the garage in November. I glued it once before and for whatever reason, forgot about it, drove out of the garage and never saw the clamp I had sitting on it overnight again. So, I just superglued it (I HATE when people just self tap them back on... and double sided tape has no balls).

I also (with a brush) touched up some spots where rust is seeping through or has already come through on my rockers, with flat-black paint. Can't wait til summer comes and my buddy and I can totally redo it and give it a final go with POR-15 and primer/paint. After that, if she rusts, I'll touch her up but its Wisconsin and its just the way of life. Can't keep her forever...

Thinking about putting these in sometime and seeing if they are worth retrofitting teal/green LEDs in em... we'll see.

Just realized that they have no where to put component tweeters... Looks like those'll have to be unplugged until I find a spot for them or get coaxial speakers.
This things are sexy as hell though! I wish I could have found more wood trim to put in a few places so it doesn't look super tacky but DAMN! I love em! Total for this stuff was $30, but we also took a bunch of parts in the toolbox.

Fog switch and cargo switch is easy to retrofit

I looked at the fog switch and it seems way easier to take apart than the cargo switch.

Got a question for you my '97 buddy. The orange/amber lens on the fog switch indicator, will that distort the color of any LED I wish to put behind it? (I wanna do red, which isn't that far away from orange/amber, but I'm still curious)

Doesn't distort much if any.

Gobs of sex! ^^ Thank you much!

Right now I'm working on pulling apart door panel switches and dash switches for a 2000 (new body style) GMC Sierra that a buddy of mine has. Not too hard to do, just takes a lil tinkering. He's going with a UV label and blue indicator look. Think it'll be pretty cool once I am done with it.

Then I'll start with my gauge LEDs and retrofitting. Thinking I won't retrofit the wood panel switches right away. I'll just put them in and see which ones work, which ones don't and figure out how to rewire them... seeing as they didn't have the wire harnesses for it in the Yukon I pulled them out of, I'll have to go back to the junk yard and pull some from any other tahoe/suburban/crewcab. That shouldn't be too hard.
