Ok...slight change in plans due to an incident that occured yesterday. I had smoke coming out of the column briefly so instead of buying the new ip for my '94 on the 16th and ordering the kicker speakers for this truck on the 16th im gonna use that money to buy a tilt column from the junkyard and try to get it installed. If that works out im back on track to getting a deck and remote starter on the 31st.

(Repost from chat thread, will be reposted in both build threads since it contains info on both trucks)

Well since it was bugging me not knowing the height differences between my two trucks i did some measuring today. Both are parked on level ground.

The '94 is rolling on 265/75R16 tires and the '89 K3500 is on 245/75R16 tires.

I used the front bumpers and rear bumpers as my reference points on both trucks.

'94 K1500 28.5" Front and 27.75" Rear
'89 K3500 26.5" Front and 29" Rear

So im going to take a look at CV angles and ball joint angles on the K3500 and if they are somewhat similar to the angles under the K1500 i will see about having the front end cranked up about 1"-1.5" to get it close to level. And for now i will prob have the K1500 cranked 1" front and get ahold of a 1" block for the rear to get it to sit at a similar height to the K3500. Later on i do plan on running an RCX on the K1500. The main reason i want it to get it to around the same height as the rear of the K3500 is because the K3500 opened my eyes as to what these trucks can do offroad in somewhat stock form. So i figure i will prob be more then happy with the K1500 sitting around similar if not a bit taller height with 33" tires.

Well on this coming payday im picking up a tilt steering column for this truck along with a set of LT265/75R16s from my friend. I bought these tires for my '94 K1500 but since i had a tire go on this truck today i will be running them on it. My friends son in law has some LT285/75R16s that i will run on the K1500. The 265s are on K1500 Sawblades at the moment and when i pick up the 285s they will go on those rims. I plan on running 245/70R17s for summer tires on this truck mounted on these wheels..

Once the 245s are worn out i may go to 265s on these wheels as well. Other option is finding a set of Hummer H2 wheels to run the 245s on.

Also forgot to mention i have a lead on a low milage 350 to drop into this truck. I will be buying that from my friend at the end september. Upgrades to still be determined for that engine though.

Hmmmm will def have to give that another look. Like i said i didnt realise Dodge wheels fit. And here i have been skipping ads on Kijiji because they mention they are for the Dodge and thought that they wouldnt work. Back in the day they wouldnt have. Cant remember which maker it was but their 8 lug wheels only fit their model and no one elses. Might have been ford.

Took the truck into the Tirecraft I used to work at today and had my spare set of LT265/75R16s swapped onto the truck. I originally thought I had a set of 5 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors when I first bought the wheels and tires from my friend but found out today I had 4 Goodyear Wrangler AT/S and one Wrangler Silent armor. Wound up buying a used gmt800 16" steel wheel to mount the Wrangler Silent Armor on as a spare. Didnt get a spare with the truck so this helps a lot. Now I have a set of Sawblades to mount the 285s I am buying next week onto for the '94.
