No names called, and like I said, I try to avoid negativity on the internet, but choosing to continue to try to defend a unfounded claim, and trying to choose the pieces of a discussion to try to state you disagree with without providing any substantiation for them is a pointless endeavor.

You've spouted off several posts in this thread, all with disinformation in them. Seriously I wish forums were like wikipedia where at least when people post stupid ****, someone who actually KNOWS what they're talking about could fix it.

So now we're changing the argument because you cannot substantiate the first one? This should go well.

That was not the first time I've mentioned visibility issues, so nothing about my point of view on this issue has changed.

An your last post is about the third or fourth time you've nicely called me stupid. So like I said we just need to agree to disagree for now. Neither of us is going to change each others minds....

best way to see how bright that swap will be is to do a led swap on the reverse light and move the gear shifter to make it blink

Let me make it clear, I do not question your intelligence. The fact that this is even a concern to you tells me that you are in fact an intelligent person. What I don't understand is why you try to defend a point you made, which has been called into question using the best analogs I was able to provide, but you try to do so without making any statements that you can substantiate. You stated law requires taillights be red, not true, you stated it is illegal (which may be true) but didn't cite any substantiation for it, you stated that it would be both too bright, and then would provide "visibility issues" (which seems to me to imply that it is too dim?), but when I stated why an LED bulb would alleviate these concerns, you made no reply to the point and just argued about diffusers. So, again, I do not question your intelligence, merely request that you employ it in your discussion on the topic if you're going to make the assertion.

At this point I have to agree though, that the horse is dead and beaten, and that if he's performed the mod, a vid is needed.

As for the guy who made the point a few posts back about how if he did a ****** job of wiring it'd be unsafe and his turn signals would fail, the same could be said about literally hundreds of things I've done to cars over the years, so while true, its far from unique.

Here are the federal DOT regs regarding lighting. Yes tail/stop lights HAVE to be red. Turn signals on the rear can be red or amber. Up front they must be amber. Forward and side facing maker lights must be amber and rear facing ones red. Its all in there..........

http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/fmcsr/fmcsrruletext.aspx?reg=393.11

Your GTO argurement doesnt stand exactly becuase the the housings are identical. What about a GMT400 Stop/Turn housing and Reverse housing is identical? Yes they are in the same tail light but are two seperate housings. Like I already said we can discuss any different cars/trucks we want but it doesnt matter since this discussion is about a GMT400 making other vehicles/comparisons irrelevant.

The Visibility issue is going from at or over half the light being used for the signal, to a small 2"x2"ish square that is more on the side of the light than the back. People directly behind will not be able to see it as well due to both the smaller lighted area and the position of the reverse light itself.

Every LED bulb I've seen has been brighter than a comparable halogen. Espically switchbacks like the OP wants/did use.

An unrelated amendment, the front turns have an option to be white also.....atleast it is here, I haven't read the vehicular enforcements for OK yet. Those plug 'n play LEDs aren't as bright as halogens, and some aren't as bright as same sized incandescents(i HATE typing that word!). Ben is right though, except all you really have to do is just look at the reverses lit up from inside another car 20ft back, which is the distance they tell you nowadays to adjust your lowbeams for. The lens of the reverses is made of horizontal angles that take the light and angle it downwards towards the ground to let you see who/what you're about to run over. With that said, I'd lean to say you could probably even run the 2"x2" superflux LED boards and the potential glare would get broken up and aimed downwards. Last i checked, I believe the stock reverse light beam hits the ground at it's farthest of around 20ft. There's ofcourse the inherent possibility of a tailgater(i dealt a serious blow to one the other day)....but if he/she wants to tailgate and get blinded, it's their fault when I brake check them and they lose a grill in a lowered dodge dakota......../RAWR!!!

Went to walmart and got some bulbs. White on the driver's side, amber on the passenger side. I actually like the look of the amber bulbs... They look good! Bright enough for a turn signal, but not blinding.

Night pics coming tonight :D
