I know you have been doing a lot of bartering and trading for the stuff you've got. But... if a guy were to do this without the luxury of trading and stuff, what do you think the cost of your set up might be?

without motor & trans i'd say i'm at about $2500-$3000 so far.
90% of that has been worked out through trade & i got my motor & trans for practically nothing by time i sold the car & parts it was being swapped into.
for my motor & trans package i would expect to pay up to $3000 alone for what i have, 02 LS1 w/ LS6 intake, & 4l60e with only 45k on it.
after i sold the car the motor was being put in i'm about $300 out of pocket for it.
my suggestion is be patient, shop around & do a LOT of research.

got everything together & took it for a test drive. unfortunately it runs like crap once i put it in gear & go. it starts to sputter & miss.
had bad fuel pressure & a vacuum leak but i fixed those problems & it's still running bad, if not worse. the check engine light (LED on the neslon harness) hasn't come on but i think there may be a problem with it. i unplugged the MAF while running & nothing changed & no light. we put a code reader on it & it had a code for the MAF. my tach also isn't working right so i'm thinking it may be something in the tune or harness. i'm trying to find someone around me with a scan tool so we can see a little further into it.
