My buddy has a 95 4x4 yukon 2 dr. I know the 4l60e are same for 93/94 and 95 is different but his 95 still has a 350 tbi not vortec. Would he still need a 95 or would that possibly be a 93/94 style tranny?
Thanks dustyn

95's were tbi so he would still need a 95 4x4 transmission.

Look at the RPO code. It's in the glovebox. The RPO code for the trans will start with an M. Just have to make sure it's also for a 4x4. Mine said M30 and when you look it up it says "TRANSMISSION, AUTO 4 SPD, HMD, 4L60E, ELECTRONIC". Not sure if it will say different codes if the trans varies, but the RPO codes will tell you everything mechanically you will need to know about it. It will probably be best to just call and ask someone at a transmission shop about what years will work. If they don't know right off hand they should be able to look it up for you.

On the pan rail, passenger side toward the rear of the transmission there is a serial number. The first number of the serial number tells the year model. If its a 5, its a 95. You may have to remove the heat shield that is bolted to the transmission to see the number.
