Starting problem

I'm fairly new to this and need help. My 97 sierra has a 5.7 vortec that hesitates to start after it has sat for over about half an hour. It will turn over nearly ten times before it starts compared to my friends which hardly turns over once and starts. It then runs fine until I turn a corner and hit the gas it then stutters till I let off and hit the gas again.

P.S. the trucks transmission is slipping but fairly sure that doesn't affect this

I would look at fuel pump, a lot of times when low on fuel and turning a corner the fuel level at the pump drops, if nothing else fill your tank
