Repairing bed rails

Also guys when using the chassis saver paint... If you have new clean metal do you need primer first or can you put chassis saver right over clean metal?

Lastly did you guys use the reducer to thin the chassis saver paint?

Also what are you guys using to replace these bed rails? 2"x3" tube???
